Pre-festival Events

Wednesday, January 18th


Kids' After School Craft: Cup Weaving with Andi is on Wednesday, January 18th at 3:30 pm at the Lafayette County Oxford Public Library located at 401 Bramlett Ave. For more info, click here!

Monday, January 23rd


Film screening at the University Museum: "A Century of Quilts: America in Cloth" by PBS at 7 pm. The University Museum is located at the corner of University Ave. and 5th St. More information about the museum is available here!

Tuesday, January 24th


5 pm - 7 pm - Solo Show with Mark Ramos
misbits: a new media art space will be hosting its first solo show artist, Mark Ramos, with his piece "Motherboard." "Motherboard" is a quilt comprised of fabric circuit boards embroidered with electrically conductive thread that sends signals to a program that generates a virtual quilt. The opening reception is from 5-7 pm and is part of the January Art Crawl. For more information visit http://misbitsnma.com/markRamos.html.

5 pm - 6:30 pm - January Art Crawl 
The January Art Crawl will take place from 5 to 6:30 pm and will feature shows at Southside Gallery, the University Museum, the Inn at Ole Miss, The Edison (see Solo Show with Mark Ramos), the Ford Center and the Powerhouse.

 The Festival Officially Opens! Festival admission is $2 a day or $5 for a 3-day pass. Children ages 18 and under are free. 

Thursday January 26th

 
9 am - 2 pm
- Vendor set up

9 am - 3 pm - Classes - Click here to see a list of classes and register online!

3 pm - 4:30 pm - Preview shopping! Open to the public!

4:30 pm - 5:30 pm - Opening Reception and Spin it in a Minute - this reception will include a brief introduction of guest artist, Diane Williams and then each teacher and vendor will give a 1-minute presentation promoting their wares and classes. Door prizes will be given out during the reception!

6 pm - 7 pm - Thacker Mountain Radio Hour featuring fiber artist, Diane Williams, at Off Square Books Store. Off Square is located at 129 Courthouse Square, across from Neilsons. Friday, January 27th


8:45 am
- “The Historic Journey of African American Quilters” by Diane Williams, guest artist lecture and breakfast. Breakfast begins at 8:45 am and the talk will begin at 9 am.

10 am - 6 pm - Shopping and classes! Classes - Click here to see a list of classes and register online!

10:30 am - Story Time: Fiber Fun at the Lafayette County Oxford Public Library located at 401 Bramlett Ave. For more info, click here!

11 am - 12 pm - Couching by Machine Demo with Marjorie Jones

11:30 am - 1 pm - Fabric and Yarn Swap: Come and swap out yarn and fabric you do not use anymore. Bring neatly folded and rolled yarn and fabric (scraps can be swapped as well) to swap out. Coordinated by Stacey Stanford.

Evening - Times TBD - Reception and possible guest speaker at Oxford Treehouse Gallery

Saturday, January 28th

9 am
- Diane Williams will present an information session called “MAC Grants and Services”

10 am - 3 pm - Children’s Petting Zoo Open

11 am - 12 pm - Temari Balls Demo with Peggy Russell

2 - 3 pm - Russian Punch and Embroidery with Beading Demo with Michelle Emanuel

Children’s Tent Activities 

10 am - 12 pm - Mug Rugs for children aged 8-13 years by Woodson Ridge Homemaker’s Club - $1 

12:30 pm - 2:30 pm - Turtle Weaving activity led by University Museum - Free

3 pm - 5 pm - PomPom Necklaces led by Stacey Sanford and Oxford Birth Services - $1 with proceeds going to the family diapering and feeding station at Double Decker sponsored by Oxford Birth Services and Organic Mothers
