Oxfilm, which provides support to Mississippi filmmakers by providing access to equipment and supporting the production of local films has secured funds to make Mississippi shorts. Through a grant with Cathead Vodka local filmmakers will be provided a small grant and free use of Oxfilm equipment to create a short about something unique in Mississippi.

Tell a Mississippi Story. Capture the feel of a hometown music festival, the pride of the owner of a small local diner or a unique talent in our state. This could be a short about a person, event, product or tradition. The film duration should be within 5-7 minutes. Oxfilm will meet in January and June for selection of recipients. We ask that if you are desiring to submit more than one concept, please wait until the next selection period for your second submission.

Selected proposal(s) will be awarded $300 production budget plus use of the Oxfilm equipment. The completed project will also receive waivers to submit and be considered in the following film festivals:

Oxford Film Festival
Magnolia Film Festival
Grenada AfterGlow Film Fest
Crossroads Film Festival
Mississippi International Film Festival
Tupelo Halloween Horror Film Festival (when genre fits)
Tupelo Film Festival

This project is funded by a grant from the Cathead Vodka supporting the Arts in Mississippi through the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council & Oxfilm.
