Project: Justevia Teas

Artist Statement:
Halima and I started out as friends who love to farm, but over time we have become family who enjoy sitting down to a cup of tea while having the most memorable conversations. Justevia came to us one day during potting when Halima tasted the fresh leaves from the stevia plant and wondered why no tea companies were sweetening their teas with natural sweeteners. We decided to start making tea blends with locally grown, organic herbs as the foundation. We handle these products from seed to sale, from planting to packaging. Our love for tea along with our understanding of the joy and pride that southerners take in their tea has helped us create healthy, natural tea blends that our customers love.
Another thing that sets us apart is our drying method; rather than using a dehydrator, we air dry. You can tell when you open a bag of tea and see that the herbs have maintained their rich colors or when you take your first sip and taste that the herbs have maintained their essence. Our desire is for others to enjoy those memorable conversations with newfound friends and family over a cup of our tea.
Through this generous program with the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, we have a few small goals. First, we want to spread the word about our company in hopes of partnering with local businesses and providing tea for our local community. Secondly, we want to build a drying room and office space so that we can keep up with demand and stay organized. The goal of having a dry room is so we can keep up with what we are hoping will be a lot of demand for our teas. Our dream is to build a shed big enough where we can have both of these amenities in one central location. We are new small business owners and would love your support, so that we can grow and take you all on the step-by-step journey of our success.
