Location: The Lafayette County Arena Classrooms
Join Theatre Oxford for a week of movement, character creation, and storytelling! Jennifer Mizenko will work with children to explore eight basic emotions through drawing, vocalizing, and physicalizing. Using the method of Rasaboxes, your child will have a ball, literally hopping from one emotion to the next. Then with Jackie Joyner, students will build script interpretation and performance skills. By the end of the workshop, students will have developed their own play based on the story of Charlotte’s Web.
Camp Schedule
June 17th-21st - camp will be held at the Lafayette County Arena classrooms from 9 am to 12 pm.
June 21st - dress rehearsal will be held at the Powerhouse at 6:30 pm
June 22nd - the performance will be 11 am with actor call at 10 am at the Powerhouse
Prices: $185 for YAC members / $200 for non-members
Theatre Oxford members may use member price. Online registration ends at 5 pm on June 16th.
Jennifer Mizenko is a Professor Emerita of Dance and Movement at the University of Mississippi. She was recently recognized by Mississippi Art Education Association with a lifetime achievement award. Jennifer is a teaching member of Alexander Technique International, a Laban Movement Analyst certified by LIMS, and yoga instructor from Yandara Yoga Institute. She is one of the co-authors of The Laban Workbook for Actors, A Practical Guide with Video.
Jackie Joyner is a professional working actress Jackie Joyner, from Los Angeles, who’s been on TV show’s such as, Disney’s Andi Mack, Nickelodeon’s iCarly, CBS Criminal Minds and much much more!
The Lafayette County Arena is located at 70 F.D. Buddy East Parkway (70 County Road 406). This road connects Hwy 6 to Hwy 334 by the Lafayette County Schools. Enter through the MS State Extension Services Entrance (glass doors on the left).
