About Rachel
Hello & Welcome! My name is Rachel Coleman, and I will be your bellydance guide this spring! My bellydance journey began in 2006, originally as way to incorporate more movement and exercise to my day. The more I danced, the more my fascination grew, and the more I wanted to know. My love of this beautiful dance quickly transformed what was intended to be a simple means of exercise into a natural outlet of self-expression and creativity. My foundation is rooted in Egyptian style of bellydance, but I also draw inspiration from a many other bellydance styles and outside dance genres.
Over the past 17 years I have taught private lessons, group classes and workshops for the Oxford community through the Oxford Park Commission, The University of Mississippi, and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council. I am certified in the A-Z Bellydance and SharQui-The Bellydance Workout methodologies. It is my great pleasure to introduce women of all ages to the joy of bellydance and hope to encourage and empower women in their own dance/movement journeys. I look forward to dancing with you!
