Date: Thursday, February 13th
Time: 7:00-9:00pm
Location: Zoom
Instructor: Connor King

This workshop will go through some of the basic principles of writing a sketch. The participants learn about sketch format, foils, three-beat notes, and recording set up. The workshop will include a session with a writing partner to “riff” dialogue and how to have that dialogue transcribed in a conversation format. The recording can also be used to brainstorm ideas outside of dialogue such as setting, circumstances, and sketch outlines. Additionally, the workshop also present how to use transcript technology from conference apps such as Zoom to do automatic note-taking for brainstorming concepts and riffing dialogue.

This is a great opportunity to refresh yourself on how to properly implement existing technology from one app to another, as well as some basic improvisational techniques to get the creative juices flowing. We will also discuss formatting for submitting your 10 minute play festival script.

This workshop will benefit not only sketch writers but also improvisers. If you have a strong idea for a concept but struggle to get ideas fully written out before the idea leaves your head, this workshop is for you.
