Sharon Clemmer – Representational Oil Painter
I love to paint! It’s how I connect with the divine beauty that surrounds us, the kind that God supplies in quiet moments and radiant bursts. I don’t paint by subject; I paint by inspiration. My work begins with a feeling – a spark of grace, a whisper of light, a moment that moves me. My inspiration lives in nature’s gentle rhythms: the unfolding of a flower, the shimmer of morning light, the spark in a child’s eye, and the proud wave of the American flag. These are glimpses of grace, reminders of joy, and reflections of hope.
In 2022, I experienced deep personal loss-my father’s disappearance and the passing of a young loved one from cancer. That grief reshaped my life and my signature. I now place a small heart over the “E” in my name, as a quiet tribute to those I carry with me. It’s a symbol of love, remembrance, and the enduring connection between the spirit and canvas.
My journey as an artist began while working at the University of Mississippi, where I took a few art classes that awakened something deep within me. I joined Evolve Art Education, co-founded by Kevin Murphy, and quickly realized that the desire to paint wasn’t just something I enjoyed-it was who I am. That realization led me to pursue training through workshops, where I found not only challenge and growth, but also camaraderie with artists from around the world.
A pivotal moment came during a week-long workshop in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, with Daniel Gerhartz. We had live models, and I cried at the end of every day-I was in over my head, but I showed up, and I kept showing up. On Friday morning, Daniel looked at me and said, “Sharon, what can I do to help you succeed today?” That question changed everything. It reminded me that growth comes not just from talent, but from determination, community, and the willingness to put in the work and keep going.
Since then, I have continued my studies with Daniel Gerhartz through Sharing the Journey, as well as with several other accomplished artists:
Yelena Lamm (2024 Mastering Florals workshop),
Ken Backhaus (2024 Tucson Art Academy),
Bryan Mark Taylor (2025 workshop and Sentient Academy),
Elizabeth Robbins (2025 Inspired to Paint),
Colley Whisson (2025 Patreon course),
Daniel Keys (2025 Patreon),
Adam Clague and TJ Cunningham (2025 Art Journey Course),
I cherish this journey-its challenges, its beauty, and the community it has brought me, and the quiet peace I find when the brush is in my hand. When I am not painting, you will find me spending time with my family and drawing strength from the unwavering support of my husband.
