This hands-on workshop hosted by the Foldout Cat and Yarn Adventure will cover the basics of learning to spin on the Dreaming Robots Electric Eel Wheel 6.1. Participants will learn the basics of spinning on an electric wheel and get one-on-one feedback on technique while playing with a full ounce of hand-dyed fiber from the Foldout Cat. Experience Level:
This class is open to students 12 years old and up. No adult accompaniment necessary. Students must have enough manual dexterity to hold and draft wool roving and must be able to to focus for the duration of the class.
This class is specifically designed for new spinners who want to explore e-spinning. There’s no homework prior to class, and no previous experience with spinning is required.
Materials Provided:
Katy and Q will provide up to 10 Dreaming Robots EEW 6.1 e-spinners for students' use, plus enough hand-dyed wool/wool-blend fiber for everyone to play with at least an ounce during class.
Students should go home with some basic e-spinning skills and an idea of whether e-spinning is right for them. Additionally, EEW 6.1 wheels and accessories (batteries, lazy Kates, wheel trays, extra bobbins) will be available for student purchase during and after class.
Materials Needed:
Students need bring nothing with them but their curiosity and willingness to learn - and to give themselves grace!
