Tiny snags in your favorite sweater? Rips in your jeans? Toes showing up through your socks? Mending to the rescue! In the past few years, there has been a resurgence of learning repair and mending techniques to slow down your fashion and help clothing last longer. The 2020s in particular have been encouraging of using patches and visible mending to extend the life of clothing you love.
Students will learn darning techniques and the basics of sashiko (the Japanese art of tiny stitches) to expand your options for how to repair different fabrics.

Experience Level:
This is a beginner class and is open to students 16 years old without an adult.
Materials Provided:
Sashiko thread, transfer sheets, Sashiko needles, darning tool, tapestry needle, fabric squares, stitch markers, embroidery floss, stabilizer/interfacing.
Materials Needed:
Students should bring anything they want to mend or practice mending on. Students will take home their practice mending at the end of class.
